Call for Films

The Bridge Project is sponsoring the commission of six new short films.  Films should be soundless or able to function without sound, integrate well with a chosen piece of music (to be announced) and embody the festival theme: the active  co-creation of mutually-beneficial, non-imperialistic bridges that cross cultural divides.  Any visual language will be considered (film or animation, people-centric or symbol-centric, etc.). 

 

The films will be shown during live musical performance in Kyoto, Japan and New York City, USA, and via stream worldwide.  Film artists are encouraged to attend the performance and participate in a panel discussion on the arts and diplomacy in either Kyoto or New York.

Selection criteria for films include:

​

-general quality of the work

-distinctness and consistency of the artistic voice

-how well the film integrates with the music chosen

-how well the film embodies the festival theme of active co-creation of bridges across cultural divides

The Call for Films will open officially March 1, 2018 and close June 1, 2018.
